Marley & Karen

MARLEY  WAS UNITED with his human friend when he was only 12 weeks old. On Karen's lunch break from work she found herself at the nearby Hooterville Safehaus Adoption Center (now Homeward Pet Adoption Center) volunteering to walk the puppies. The night prior, after months of dog shopping, Karen had decided that the timing wasn't right to adopt a dog, and yet, for some reason found herself at the HPAC the next day.

Marley and his 8 litter mates were found abandoned in a box in rural eastern Washington. A call had come through to the HPAC asking them to come and pickup the pups or else they would be left to fend for themselves. An HPAC volunteer reached the caller as fast as she could but 2 litter mates did not make it. HPAC was able to adopt 3 pups, and the remaining 4 waited patiently for their new families.

When Marley's human friend (Karen) spotted these adorable malamute-mix pups, she immediately knew that he'd be her best friend for life. Karen took him for a walk and they bonded immediately. After work, she went directly back to officially adopt him.

Marley is now 11 years young and some days are a tad slower than others but his loyalty and devotion to his human is ever-strong. He has been there for her through some of the toughest times and also the happiest - with his head resting on her shoulders and his arms ready to 'hug', and his sweet pup-like smooches to either kiss away the tears of tough times or to celebrate those of joyful ones.

Marley's human is eternally grateful to have been adopted by him.
